Grow-Go-Sow Lesson 20

SOLOMON AND THE TEMPLE

Text: 1 Kings 8:22–53; Matthew 24:1–2

Topic(s): Evangelism, Serving

Big Idea of the Message: Solomon’s prayer of dedication outlines how the temple was designed as a place where God’s glory would dwell among his people, shining as a beacon of his power, mercy, and strength to the world. Yet as grand as the temple was, it was only a foretaste of Jesus’s work of redemption in our lives.

Application Point: As God’s redeemed people, the way we live our lives should serve as opportunities to point people to Christ.

Discussion Questions:
1. What is one thing that stood out to you from this week’s message?
2. What were some of Solomon’s prayers when he dedicated the temple?
3. Why was the temple so important for the Israelites?
4. How does Jesus fulfill the function of the temple?
5. Why do our actions matter in evangelism?
